Mohamed Abdool Rehaman (Mams) who was responsible for the birth of Rapid Truck Bodies, which later evolved into a part of MMG, has seen his dream evolve from a stream into an ocean- he could not have done this without the help of all his management and employees.

His motto which is “Built to customer satisfaction” has enabled him to acquire many loyal friends and customers along the way. He is the sole director of MMG and is very hands on with all divisions of MMG.

Mkondeni Motor Garage (PTY) LTD incorporated in March 1994 is situated at 141 Shortts Retreat Road, Mkondeni, Pietermaritzburg and is the home of:

• Topline Chassis Straightening and Wheel Alignment Centre

We have 4 000 sqm of fully equipped workshops under shelter and a massive 30 000 sqm of parking space for trucks and trailers.

We have created jobs for our 120 employees who are always willing to assist in whichever way they can. At MMG we encourage the employment of eager, dedicated people who are willing to learn a trade to empower themselves: this is one of the reasons we stand out above the rest, our artisans are equipped with problem solving solutions, which makes them able to assist our customers with various needs.

SERVICES

Rapid Truck Bodies opened in 1988 and specializes in the manufacture all types of truck bodies and a various range of trailers. In addition to this they take on all repair jobs be it insurance or private.

This corner stone of MMG is efficiently run by Yakoub Abdool Rehaman (Manager of MMG) - largely known as "Jakes,", Mams Rehaman, Ya-eesh Rehaman and Collin Indaba together they run a tough game but to the satisfaction of our loyal customers they have been able to maintain our brilliant turn around time for work received. We are also home to one of Natal’s largest press brakes - the Maxi 500 ton x 6.5m long.

Our trailer section is manned by Neshin Reddy and Mohamed Abdool Rehaman, largely known as "Mams," with Ya-eesh Rehaman At Nigrini as the sales executive.

We have a 2700 square metres dedicated trailer fabrication workshop with an overhead crane and beam jig that enhances the speed & quality of assembly.

Diverse trailers are manufactured namely:

• Timber Draw Bar Skeletals
• Cattle Draw Bar Units
• Container Transporters

We are specialists in the manufacture and supply of triple cranked Van Body units and 30 Ton Step Deck units.

We have also manufactured Side Tipping Flat Decks with Drop Sides to Rigids and Draw Bar trailers these being specific requests from clients.

We will shortly be demonstrating a Flat Deck Drop Side, Side Tipping Superlink (Multi-Purpose unit) fitted with dual cylinders per 6m section.

Topline Chassis Straightening and Wheel Alignment Centre is supervised by Mams Rehaman. We have Swedish trained technicians who utilize top of the range Josam Equipment which is equipped to tackle all alignment and chassis needs.

Our Wheel Alignment centre brings us customers from all walks of life- as we are one of the few companies who are qualified to conduct a complete diagnosis of any truck and trailer.

KZN Springs is supervised by Jakes Rehaman and they offer refurbishment of spring packs and blades.

Mkondeni Trucks & Spares deals largely with used spares and used truck sales, Monty Maharaj and his team undertake all accident damage jobs as well as the technical part of the Tipper bodies. We have two additional properties in Cato Ridge alongside the N3, which is used for the sale of our heavy vehicles and is the latest part of the MMG family.

The Rapid Ice division manufactures insulated, refrigerated and dry freight fiberglass load bodies and trailers built to customer specifications. A fully equipped workshop and experienced staff enables us to take on any project. Our bodies are of the highest quality, which ensures our customers enjoy a long-lasting benefit.

Our principals are currently involved in discussions regarding technological advancements in the field and the setting up of South Africa’s first thermal chamber which will be greatly beneficial to the industry as the test facilities will contribute significantly to standards required for the maintenance of a constant temperature within the insulated body which in turn will reduce operating costs.

All repair work is undertaken.
